Šavnik-Žabljak Road Blocked for Over an Hour Today

The opposition in Šavnik staged a blockade today on the Šavnik-Žabljak road from 1:45 PM to 3 PM, protesting against the re-election of Jugoslav Jakić (DPS) as mayor.

This blockade is being organized by the coalitions “For the Future of Šavnik” (NSD, SNP, DNP) and “Let’s Go People” (DCG, UCG, PES), which started obstructing the main road on February 27th.

The opposition is demanding that representatives from both the legislative and executive branches of the government address the ongoing crisis in Šavnik, which has persisted since October 2022, alongside the unfinished local elections.

“No officials from the current government in Montenegro have addressed the situation in Šavnik. That is why we will continue the blockade, and starting March 5th, we will block the road from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM,” stated the opposition in Šavnik.
