A 23-year-old Turkish citizen, identified as DS, was apprehended yesterday at Podgorica Airport on suspicion of document forgery, as stated by the Police Directorate (UP) today.
The announcement revealed that during passenger screening for a foreign airline flight while exiting Montenegro, an individual approached the check-in counter and presented officers with a Polish travel document under the name JM (23).
“Due to concerns regarding the document’s authenticity, a thorough border control was conducted at the second line of checks. The inspection revealed certain discrepancies and damages in the travel document, suggesting it was likely a complete reproduction. During the investigation, police identified the individual as DS (23), a Turkish citizen. He admitted to purchasing the document in Istanbul, Turkey, intending to use it for travel to Italy,” the statement explained.
The Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica was notified of the incident, resulting in the arrest of DS per the prosecutor’s directives.
