The Budućnost handball team encountered challenges before their opening match of the EHF Champions League, which they are set to play today against Rapid in Bucharest.
Due to a delay in their flight from Podgorica to Istanbul, the “blues” missed their connecting flight to Bucharest, resulting in a full day spent at the airport in Turkey.
They finally arrived in Bucharest at 21:30 local time, which is one hour earlier than Montenegrin time, whereas they were originally scheduled to land in the Romanian capital seven hours prior.
This situation led to them missing their training session the day before the match, and the problems continued as the luggage of Ivana Godeč, Andrijana Popović, and Nikolina Marković went missing.
Nonetheless, there is a sense of optimism within our team.
“We have faced numerous challenges during our travel. Spending the entire day at the airport in Istanbul meant we couldn’t attend our scheduled training session in Bucharest. We arrived at the hotel around 22:30 local time, leaving us with limited time to recover from our tiring journey and prepare properly for the match. However, we have been training hard in recent times, and we are prepared for the beginning of the Champions League,” stated team captain Ivona Pavićević.
The match in Bucharest is set to commence at 16:00.
“We are eager for the clash against Rapid and aim to showcase ourselves despite the hurdles we’ve faced. I have faith in my team and believe we will deliver a strong performance on what is expected to be a challenging court in Bucharest,” Pavićević expressed confidently.
