Primarily, we should concentrate on our own well-being.
The Buducnosti handball players will kick off their European season this Sunday.
They are set to face Rapid in Bucharest at 16:00, a team that features Montenegrin legend Milena Raičević and has former national team player Igor Marković as part of the coaching staff since this summer.
The Blues are eager for the season to commence, yet they recognize their current challenges, as just over a month ago, there were doubts regarding the club’s viability.
However, they made a strong entry into the Champions League, winning a prestigious tournament in Debrecen.
“We have a positive vibe from Debrecen. We overcame two extremely capable teams. It’s quite difficult to predict how the season will unfold since our group consists of the elite of European handball. Nevertheless, no one can stop us from fighting and giving our all. We’ll take it step by step and see how things shape up,” remarked Jelena Radivojević (formerly Despotović).
Radivojević believes that Rapid will significantly improve as the season advances.
“They competed in the Romanian Cup, and I don’t think they showcased their full potential, so I expect a much stronger performance from them. That must have served as a wake-up call. I anticipate they will put forth their best effort in front of their home crowd. They possess quality players, and while they may experience fluctuations, our focus needs to be on ourselves.”
Jelena Vukčević also foresees a challenging match in Bucharest:
“The atmosphere will be vibrant, and the match will be tough. There’s no need for fear; we should avoid pressure and stay motivated. Thanks to our positive experience from the tournament in Debrecen, we will head to Bucharest to perform our best. Our expectations for the new season are to gain experience, grow as players and as a team, and I believe that matches like these will be incredibly valuable for us,” stated the young handball player.
