Bubućnost Falls in Opening Match in Bucharest

The initial 30 minutes demonstrated that the newly formed Buducnosti team possesses the capability to compete in the Champions League. However, this was insufficient for the two-time European champions to consider achieving a favorable result in their opening match of the elite tournament.

Bojana Popović’s squad faced a defeat against Rapid in Bucharest (32:27), with the turning point occurring early in the second half, as the home team surged ahead with a 5:0 run, extending the score to 24:18 within just a few minutes.

The “Blues” performed admirably during the first half, leading by a goal difference four times, and entered the halftime break at a stalemate – 15:15.

A decline in performance was anticipated, and indeed it materialized – Buducnost managed to find the net only three times in nearly 13 minutes, making it clear they were on the path to defeat.

Ivona Pavićević emerged as Budućnost’s top scorer with seven goals, while Jelena Radivojević added six, and Jelena Vukčević contributed four…

For Rapid, Anđela Janjušević excelled with eight goals, and our former handball player Milena Raičević scored four times against her previous club.

In the upcoming Sunday, Brest will host Brest, who triumphed over Vipers with a score of 30:27 in their home fixture on Saturday.
