After suffering a series of six consecutive losses in the SC Derby, the primary goal for the start of 2025 is for the “students” to resume their winning ways in the AdmiralBet ABA League.

Coach Petar Mijović faced tough opponents during this negative run, including losses against Buducnost Voli, Crvena zvezda, and Cedevita Olimpija, as well as a disappointing defeat to Mega in “Morača,” which wrapped up the previous year.

Is it time for them to bounce back? Their next opponent, Borac in Čačak, is set to compete today at 17:10, with both teams currently sharing a record of four wins and four losses.

– An important match lies ahead of us. Borac is a highly experienced team, and due to their smaller player pool, the roles on the team are well-defined. Baldwin and Valinskas are crucial for creation and scoring, while Jošilo and Pavićević form a strong tandem in the four and five positions. The rest of the team complements them, making it a seasoned squad that knows how to play. Team defense, particularly in fundamental situations, will be pivotal in this match – emphasized Mijović.

SC Derbi’s last victory in the regional league came on November 11, when they triumphed over Mornar 99:91 at home in a local Montenegrin derby.

– We have a challenging away game ahead. Borac has significantly revamped their team from last season and recently snapped their losing streak in a convincing victory against Cibona in Zagreb, where they maintained control throughout the match – noted Derby playmaker Igor Drobnjak.

The “students” have yet to secure a win this season outside of “Morača.”

– The key is to stay focused. I believe we are prepared and showed promise during certain moments of our last game. We understand how tough it is to win in Čačak, but we have faith in ourselves and believe we can achieve our first away victory this season – added Drobnjak.
