Citizens Turn In 65 Weapons in a Single Day

On Saturday, citizens of Montenegro voluntarily surrendered 65 firearms, along with 2,750 rounds of ammunition and various weapon components, to the police, as reported by the Police Directorate.
This initiative is part of the long-running “Respect Life, Return Weapons” campaign undertaken by the Police Directorate.
According to the Police Directorate, a total of 50 weapons were voluntarily turned in across Podgorica, Danilovgrad, Tuzi, and Cetinje. This included 24 pistols, 26 rifles, and 2,477 rounds of ammunition of different types and calibers, as well as weapon parts.
In Bar, Kotor, and Herceg Novi, police received five weapons, consisting of three pistols, two rifles, and 230 rounds of ammunition, as stated by the police.
Additionally, six weapons were surrendered in Bijelo Polje, Berane, and Rožaje, with the haul including three pistols, three rifles, and 15 rounds of ammunition of diverse types and calibers.
In Nikšić and Pljevlja, four firearms—one pistol and three rifles—along with 28 rounds of ammunition, were voluntarily handed over to law enforcement, as per the police announcement.
From January 2nd to the present, a total of 3,237 weapons, 109,462 rounds of ammunition, 352 hand grenades, and hundreds of weapon parts and explosive devices have been surrendered to the Police Directorate.
The authorities reminded citizens that they can call 122 to return weapons without facing any legal, criminal, or administrative consequences, regardless of whether the weapons are legally or illegally owned.
The Police Directorate has also introduced a free SOS hotline at 19969 and an email address sos@policija.me for reporting threatening behavior and violence related to firearm possession.
