U18 Men’s National Team Competes at the MEVZA Tournament in Zadar
The Montenegrin U18 men’s volleyball team is currently participating in the MEVZA tournament taking place in Zadar.
This tournament is geared towards younger volleyball athletes born in 2006 and later. Montenegro is placed in Group A alongside Ribola Kaštela (Croatia), Kecskemet Junior Sporta (Hungary), and SŠŠ Volleyball Trenčina (Slovakia). In Group B, competing teams include Brno (Czech Republic), Ramat Aviv (Israel), and Penzugi (Hungary).
Head Coach Dejan Radić has brought 14 players to Dalmatia: technicians Luka Milošević (Budućnost Volley) and Vasilije Andrović (Mornar), setters Luka Lojić and Filip Radić (Budućnost Volley), middle blockers Uroš Konatar (Jedinstvo) and Jovan Drešić (Galeb), serve receivers Vasilije Milenković, Vuk Stanojević, Filip Milosavljević (Budva), Vasilije Božović (Galeb), Kosta Poleksić (Budućnost Volley), and Mihailo Grupković (Mornar), along with liberos Aleksa Radić (Budućnost Volley) and Ilija Marović (Budva).
The top two teams from each group will advance to the tournament semi-finals, while the remaining teams will compete for placement.
Accompanying the team is Ivan Ječmenica, the director of the men’s national teams for the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro.
“This tournament provides a fantastic platform for our young talents to evaluate their skills against formidable opponents from other countries, gain essential experience, and demonstrate their abilities. It also continues the journey of the team that earned a silver medal at the last Balkan Championship in Tirana last July, with most players from that squad on this national team. I aim to utilize this gathering to better understand the players’ strengths and to prepare for upcoming challenges next summer,” Coach Radić remarked.
