Chicago needed a win on a night that saw the number one jersey raised during halftime of the game against New York. The Bulls paid tribute to Derrick Rose, the youngest player to earn the MVP award in NBA history.
Nikola Vučević’s teammates were trailing by nine points at halftime, but they came out strong in the third quarter, outscoring their opponents 41-17, leading to a final score of 139-126.
However, the standout performer of the match was Kobi White, who scored 33 points, including 11 three-pointers.
Zach Lavin also contributed with 33 points, while in the losing effort, Karl Anthony Towns led his team with 44 points and 16 rebounds, and Branson added 33 points.
The Bulls are considered one of the most iconic franchises in sports, largely due to their six championship titles during the era of Michael Jordan, Dennis Rodman, and Scottie Pippen.
Then came a local young talent, Derrick Rose, the first overall pick in the 2008 draft. Unfortunately, injuries hindered him from achieving his full potential.
The night was also highlighted by Nikola Jokić’s strong performance against the Spurs. After being blocked by Viktor Wembanyama in a previous game, Jokić came back determined to prove himself.
He led Denver to a victory after overtime, finishing with 46 points, 10 assists, and nine rebounds, securing a 122-111 win.
Wembanyama recorded 20 points and 23 rebounds, but he struggled with a 12-2 performance from three-point range.
Anthony Edwards also shined with 53 points, though the rest of the Minnesota team managed only 52 in a loss.
The results:
Brooklyn – Philadelphia 94:123 (Williams 19 – Embiid 28)
Indiana – Phoenix 126:108 (Haliburton 27 – Durant 25)
Detroit – Minnesota 119:105 (Kaningem 40 – Edwards 53)
