Opposition in Šavnik Maintains Road Block to Žabljak Today

The opposition in Šavnik staged a protest today by blocking the Šavnik-Žabljak road from 1:45 PM to 3:00 PM in response to the re-election of Jugoslav Jakić (DPS) as mayor.
The protest was organized by the coalitions “For the Future of Šavnik” (NSD, SNP, DNP) and “Let’s Go People” (DCG, UCG, PES), who initiated the blockade of this main road on February 27th.
The opposition is calling for action from the representatives in the legislative and executive branches of government to address the ongoing crisis in Šavnik, which has persisted since October 2022, alongside the unresolved local elections.
Gavrlio Cerović, leader of the “For the Future of Šavnik” list, stated, “None of the current government officials in Montenegro have addressed the situation in Šavnik. Therefore, we will continue the blockade tomorrow, and starting March 5, the blockade will take place from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM.”
He expressed a commitment to maintain the protests and roadblocks until the election crisis, which he attributes to election tourism, is fully resolved.
