Haaland’s Availability for the Derby in Doubt
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is uncertain whether Erling Haaland will be fit to compete against Liverpool in the upcoming Premier League derby.
The “Citizens” are set to host the league leaders on Sunday at 17:30, after Haaland sustained an injury during last Saturday’s match against Newcastle.
“Perhaps he will play, but I don’t have an answer yet. He will undergo a test, and we will see,” Guardiola remarked.
Haaland has netted 27 goals across all competitions this season.
“Having Erling on the pitch is definitely preferable, but even with him, our current position remains unchanged. Everyone shares the responsibility for the team’s successes and failures, yet it’s clear that we are stronger with Erling,” Guardiola added.
Defender John Stones is expected to miss the rest of the season, and both Manuel Akanji and Rodri are also facing extended absences.
The reigning champions are currently in fourth place with 44 points, while Liverpool leads with 61 points and has a game in hand.
