Former employees of “Vektra Boka” are planning to initiate a strike and blockade the “Plaža” Hotel if the Board of Directors does not convene a meeting at the hotel today and fails to provide workers with information regarding the payment of their overdue wages, court-ordered debts, and salaries…
This information was shared with “Vijesti” by union representative and former “Vektra Boka” employee, Vojin Miljanic.
Miljanic stated that their salaries have been delayed for an extended period, leaving them unable to meet essential living expenses such as food, bills, and transportation, and they can no longer endure the lack of substantial solutions. The “Plaža” hotel in Herceg Novi, part of the remaining assets of “Vektra Boka,” has not welcomed guests since September 2021, yet around 20 employees remain, performing cleaning and other duties.
“We haven’t received our wages since October 2021, and the total debt to workers currently stands at approximately 350,000 euros. We seek clarity on the management’s vision for the company, when they will settle salary arrears and fulfill court-ordered obligations… The situation is dire; if the management continues to evade a meeting and we do not receive answers, we will strike and blockade the ‘Plaža’ Hotel, inviting the public to support us,” Miljanic stressed.
“Vijesti” has also obtained a letter that the workers sent to Milan Popović, the executive director of “Vektra Boka,” and the company’s Board of Directors, demanding information on when salaries will be paid, the adoption of the Rulebook for job systematization to potentially increase their wages to 70 euros, and a decision regarding a new working hour regime.
The challenges faced by this company are numerous; however, in early February, the Assembly of Shareholders of “Vektra Boka” made decisions regarding the compensation for Board members, setting their salaries to equal four times the average minimum wage from last year, exceeding 2,000 euros. The majority owner, represented by the bankruptcy administrator of “Vektra Montenegro,” supported this decision while minority shareholder “Ellena group” opposed it. During this same timeframe, a new executive director was appointed, Popović, replacing Slobodan Đokić.
The “Plaža” hotel in Herceg Novi remains a part of the remaining assets of “Vektra Boka” and has not received guests since September 2021, though about 20 workers continue to carry out cleaning and other tasks.
In mid-February, the “Igalo” Hotel was sold at a second auction in Herceg Novi for 11.2 million euros to a local company, “Herc gradnja.” Miljanic noted that this sale would not provide compensation for the workers, and the 1.03 million euros that the “Ellena Group” allocated for the Tax Administration regarding non-compliance with the reorganization plan and employee tax obligations will not be paid due to management’s obstruction.
“Ellena Group,” based in Herceg Novi, acquired 33 percent of “Vektra Boka” shares in early April last year, purchasing 8.7 million shares for four cents each, totaling 350,000 euros. The company’s director, Danilo Matijašević, previously informed “Vijesti” of plans to reopen the “Plaža” Hotel, anticipated to offer around 300 beds..
