Recently, Danilo Stupar was among the Montenegrin juniors who earned a silver medal at the European Championship in Burgas. Now, with Jadran m:tel, he is on an unstoppable path to the Champions League.
Novlja celebrated their victory in the third qualifying match for the European elite, defeating Dinamo Bucharest (15:8) after previously overcoming Banjaluka and Jug, and are now just one step away from the Champions League.
“I want to congratulate my teammates – we approached the match seriously from the start, gained a lead of three goals, and maintained that advantage until the end to secure the win,” said Stupar.
To secure a spot in the Champions League, Vladimir Gojković’s team needs another win against Barcelona tomorrow at 10:30 am.
“We triumphed over the South, we are at the top of the standings, and tomorrow Barcelona awaits us – winning that match would ensure our place in the Champions League, which would mean a great deal to us. We are determined to achieve that victory,” concluded the young left-handed water polo player from Jadran.
If Novljani clears this last hurdle as they have done so far, Montenegro will have two representatives in the Champions League this season, as Primorac, being the champions, has already secured a spot in the elite competition.
