Prebiracevic Shocks Favorites in Qatar, Strugar Delivers Stellar Performance in Romania

The weekend was buzzing with thrilling volleyball matches, showcasing impressive performances from our players who are maintaining their strong momentum. This week’s highlight was coach Darko Prebiračević’s stunning victory over the previously undefeated team in Qatar.
Bojan Strugar has continued his stellar play in Romania. During the play-off stage of the Romanian championship, Craiova achieved a decisive 3:0 win against Steaua Bucharest (25:19, 25:18, 25:13). Strugar contributed significantly, scoring 15 points with a 67% attack efficiency, leading his team to their third victory and securing a spot in the play-off semi-finals, where they will face Corona Bucharest.
In Croatia, volleyball players Đorđe Jovović and Nikola Đurović, along with Srđan Petrović, celebrated victories with their clubs in the round of 16, while Vukašin Cimbaljević’s team fell short after a five-set battle.
Jovović and Đurović faced a manageable opponent in Sisak, winning comfortably in sets 25:15, 25:18, 25:20. Our middle blocker played a key role, scoring seven points, while Jovović’s five points helped his team clinch the win early in the match. Srđan Petrović also added five points, guiding Marsonia to a solid victory against Rovinj with a score of 26:24, 25:21, 25:13.
A dramatic contest unfolded in Kaštela, where the home team Ribola Kaštela clashed with Mursa, resulting in a thrilling 3:2 victory for the guests (25:20, 14:25, 23:25, 25:20, 15:13). Vukašin Cimbaljević contributed three points in this tight encounter.
In another match of the second round, Alpacem Kanal and Matija Ćinćur triumphed over Triglav with a score of 3:0 (25:17, 33:31, 25:23), where our representative in the Slovenian league scored eight points.
In the Serbian Championship, coach Ivica Jevtić guided Red Star back to victory. In the 20th round of the Serbian Super League, Jevtić’s squad secured a 3:1 win against Jedinstvo from Stara Pazova. However, Karađorđe and Milutin Pavićević faced a defeat against Vojvodina, losing 3:0 (25:21, 25:21, 25:19), with Pavićević scoring six points in two sets.
In the Czech Championship, Blažo Milić and Nemanja Peruničić rounded off the regular season with a win, as Usti defeated the Beskydy Mountains 3:0 (25:18, 25:18, 27:25). Nemanja Peruničić was instrumental in this victory, scoring 13 points with a 65% attack success rate, while Milić did not participate in this match. Usti now faces play-offs to remain in the top tier of the local competition.
In Qatar, coach Darko Prebiracevic has been producing impressive results since taking the reins at Qatar Sports. In the last round, he orchestrated a surprise victory against the league leaders Al Wakrah, handing them their first defeat of the season at home, finishing 3:1 (22:25, 25:22, 30:28, 25:22). Prebiracević also led his team to a 3:0 win over Al Sadd, coached by Marko Joksimović, with a score of 25:19, 25:14, 25:14. Joksimović participated in the match but did not score any points, as his team managed to come out on top against Shamal in the final round.
