Budva Hosts Mornar and Jedinstvo Budućnost
The finals of the EPCG Volleyball Super League kick off on Wednesday, featuring the first semi-final playoff matches. Defending champions Budva are set to compete against Mornar, while Budućnost Volley will take on Jedinstvo.
The quest for the Montenegrin championship title will commence with a match at the Mediterranean Sports Center in Budva, starting at 7 p.m. local time. The home team, Budva, will host Mornar from Bar. Coach Miljan Bošković’s squad completed the regular season unbeaten in sets, entering the title defense with great confidence. Conversely, Mornar wrapped up their regular season in fourth place with a 5-5 record and secured their playoff spot through convincing wins against Sutjeska in the play-in matches.
The second semi-final will take place at 7:30 p.m., where Jedinstvo will host Budućnost Volley at the “Nikoljac” Sports Hall in Bijelo Polje, as the venue in Podgorica is unavailable. The Podgorica side recorded 10 wins and 2 losses during the regular season, securing a direct berth into the semi-finals to face an opponent from the play-in. Jedinstvo, like Mornar, ended with a 7-5 record but finished third in the table, holding a slight edge in points. They advanced to the semi-finals after dominating their play-in matches against the Galeb team.
The semi-final playoff series will follow a best-of-two format. The second matches are slated for March 22, and if needed, a decisive third match will be held on March 25.
