The newly appointed head coach revealed her plans for the first time – Suzana Lazović has announced the roster of Montenegrin handball players selected for the EHF week.

The highlight of the announcement is the return of Milena Raičević, who had previously been at odds with former coach Bojana Popović, along with the inclusion of four debutants.

New additions making their debut with the “lionesses” include French Reno winger Milica Trifunović and Romanian Minaur pivot Andrijana Tatar, as well as junior national team prospects Sara Burić and Ivana Vujadinović.

Returning to the national team is goalkeeper Ljubica Glendža (formerly Nenezić), alongside players who took part in December’s World Championship and the Olympic qualification tournament that took place in April.

The Handball Federation of Montenegro has announced that Đurđina Jauković, a player from the Romanian club CSM Bucharest who is on the mend from a serious injury, will join the “lionesses” for this gathering.

Goalkeeper Marta Batinović has recently returned to the pitch after recovering from an injury sustained during the World Cup in December; however, she will not participate in this representative action, per an agreement with the coaching staff, as there are no friendly matches scheduled during the EHF week.

The national team will convene in Podgorica throughout the EHF week, marking the official start of preparations for the “EHF Euro 2024 operation”, the continental championship set to take place in Austria, Hungary, and Switzerland from November 28 to December 15.

Before the European Championship, the “lionesses” will host an additional gathering in October. In their eighth European Championship, Montenegro will compete from Debrecen against Serbia, Romania, and the Czech Republic.

The top two teams from the group will advance to the main round.
