For the basketball players of Budućnost Voli, every game remaining in the Eurocup’s regular season feels like a final.
Currently situated one win away from the playoff zone after 13 rounds, the team from Podgorica sees a crucial opportunity to advance on Wednesday in Istanbul.
However, the challenge ahead is formidable—Bahčeşehir, coached by former Budućnost coach Dejan Radonjić, stands in their way.
The Turkish side currently leads the group with 11 victories and previously achieved a win in “Morača” during the first half of the season.
While they’re aware of their status as underdogs, Budućnost is showing promising form.
“We recognize Bahçeşehir as a strong team; they are at the top of the group for a reason. They feature a roster full of experienced players who excel at reading the game and capitalizing on opponents’ mistakes,” said coach Andrej Žakelj.
The “Blues” recently secured a victory against Dubai in a thrilling match within the Admiralbet ABA League.
“Maintaining strength and focus is vital, and we also need to recharge after the game against Dubai. If we can perform at our best, then we have a chance to pull off a surprise in Istanbul,” Žakelj added.
Đorđije Jovanović emerged as a key player in the win against the UAE team.
“We’re facing a significant challenge against the top team in the standings. Bahçeşehir demonstrates excellent basketball on both ends, but if we bring the same energy as we did against Dubai, victory is within our grasp,” commented Jovanović.
