The Lionesses Assemble on Monday for EHF Week Activities
The Montenegrin women’s handball team will convene in Podgorica tomorrow to kick off their preparations for the upcoming European Championship, scheduled to take place in Austria, Hungary, and Switzerland from November 28 to December 15.
This will also mark the inaugural gathering under the guidance of the new head coach, Suzana Lazović.
Lazović has called upon 24 handball players for this initial meeting.
The roster features goalkeepers – Marina Rajčić, Armel Atingre, and Ljubica Glendža;
Wingers – Ivona Pavićević, Dijana Mugoša, Nađa Kadović, Ivana Vujadinović, Nina Bulatović, and Milica Trifunović;
Pivots – Tatjana Brnović, Ivana Godeč, Bobana Olteanu, and Andrijana Tatar;
And backs – Đurđina Jauković, Jelena Radivojević, Sara Burić, Milena Raičević, Matea Pletikosić, Itana Grbić, Tanja Ivanović, Jelena Vukčević, Katarina Džaferović, Đurđina Malović, and Nikolina Marković.
The Montenegrin handball squad will train in Podgorica next week and will hold an additional gathering in October prior to the European Championship at the end of November.
The first training session is scheduled for tomorrow at 5 PM, taking place at the Sports and Cultural Center of the University of Montenegro.
At the EHF Euro 2024, Montenegro will compete in a group based in Debrecen, facing off against Serbia, Romania, and the Czech Republic.
The top two teams from this group will advance to the main round.
This marks the Montenegrin national team’s eighth participation in the continental championship, arriving as the bronze medalist from the last EHF Euro 2022, which included Podgorica as one of its host cities.
