Milatović Speaks at Oxford on Montenegro’s Journey towards Europe
President Jakov Milatović of Montenegro is set to give a lecture on the country’s European journey at Oxford University, according to an announcement from his office.
Milatović’s lecture, titled “Montenegro’s Path to Membership in the European Union (EU): A Catalyst for the Integration of the Western Balkans,” is being held at the invitation of the Centre for European Studies at the University of Oxford.
According to the president’s office, he will discuss Montenegro’s advancements in European integration, essential reforms, and the geopolitical importance of EU expansion into the Western Balkans.
Prominent professors, researchers, and students are expected to attend the lecture, which will be followed by a discussion.
During his visit to the UK, Milatović is also scheduled to meet with Odile Renaud-Basso, the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), to discuss investment initiatives and enhance Montenegro’s collaboration with the institution.
The statement noted that the EBRD is among the largest institutional investors in Montenegro and will support the construction of the second section of the highway from Mateševo to Andrijevica.
Additionally, the President’s Office highlighted that Milatović is a recipient of the esteemed British Chevening Award for political achievements, having become the President of Montenegro just a decade after graduating from Oxford University.
