Podgorica Bemaks stands as the sole representative from Montenegro in the Top 8 phase of the NLB ABA2 league.
Following the withdrawal of Džoker from Sombor, Marko Sekulić’s team found an opportunity, even though they were eliminated from the group stage after Široki’s victory over Džoker in the last round.
Džoker finished first in group C with a record of five wins and a single loss, competing against Podgorica, Široki, and Pelister. However, due to their performance, all their games were recorded with a score of 20:0 in favor of their opponents.
This led to a shift, allowing Podgorica Bemaks to secure the top spot in group C with a record of 5:1, granting them a chance to progress in the tournament.
In the Top 8, teams will be organized into two groups. Podgorica Bemaks will be in group E, competing against Helios, Bosnia, and Zlatibor, while group F will consist of Široki, Cedevita Junior, Vojvodina, and Ilirija.
The Podgorica Bemaks will face Zlatibor at home on January 22 to kick off the second phase, followed by a match against Helios at home on February 5, and then hosting Bosnia a month later.
Subsequently, they will host Bosnia again on March 13, visit Zlatibor on March 18, and finally travel to Helios on April 2 for the conclusion of the second phase.
From this stage, the top two teams will move on to the semi-finals. Both the semi-final and final series will be played in a best-of-three format. The winner of the ABA 2 league will earn a spot in the ABA league.
