Raičević Claims Silver as Gardašević Falls Short in Medal Match

Montenegrin judoka Novo Raičević secured a silver medal, while Nikola Gardašević fell short in the bronze medal match at the European Cup held in Podgorica.
Raičević advanced to the finals in the 90 kg category, achieving four victories along the way.
He triumphed over Hedar Ibab El Ashi from Bulgaria, Marko Jovanović from Serbia, Dutch competitor Gilles De Bruyne, and Russian Astemir Abazov.
In the final bout, Raičević was bested by Russian Rolan Kunyzhev just 23 seconds into the fight.
Gardašević showed strong performance in the 81 kg category as well, but ultimately finished in fifth place.
He was defeated in the semifinals by the gold medalist, Muhamed Koc from Turkey, and subsequently lost to Aleksandar Loladze in the match for bronze.
Slobodan Vukić also came close to earning a medal, falling to Briton Wesley Greenidge in the bronze medal matchup in the 100 kg category.
Edvin Čivović (under 60 kg) and Anto Dubreta (over 100 kg) both finished in seventh place.
The European Cup serves as a preparation event for the upcoming European Senior Championships, set to take place in Podgorica from April 23rd to 27th.
