Bramley Moor, situated along the River Mersey, opened its doors to Everton fans for the first time, showcasing itself as a magnificent stadium where the Liverpool club will compete starting next season.
The £750 million structure has been under construction since 2021, was finished at the end of last year, and boasts 52,888 seats, successfully passing its inaugural test last night.
For their U-18 match against Wigan, Everton opened the south stand, drawing approximately 10,000 fans, and according to English media, the atmosphere was impressive.
“The stands in the stadium were also open for fans, allowing them to get a taste of what awaits them at Bramley Moor next season, instead of the old Goodison Park,” according to the Mirror.
The same report notes that the opening of the new stadium did not yield favorable results, as Wigan’s youth team triumphed over Everton, winning 2:1.
Additionally, it’s noteworthy that the first goal scored in Everton’s new stadium came from visiting midfielder Harrison Rimer, who turned out to be a Liverpool fan.
After scoring, Rimer faced the Everton supporters and made the number six gesture, likely referencing the six Champions League trophies won by Liverpool.
Last week, the fierce rivals from Liverpool faced each other for the last time at the iconic “Goodison,” where Everton celebrated a goal in the 2nd minute, delighting the home crowd.
