Today, a new protest organized by the informal student group “Where Tomorrow?” will take place in Podgorica concerning unmet demands following the tragic events in Cetinje.

The protest is scheduled to start at 19:30 in front of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP), with a planned march towards the Government building.

Last week, “Where Tomorrow?” conducted a blockade near the Government building that lasted several hours, along with previous protests and road blockades in Podgorica, where citizens spontaneously gathered in multiple municipalities.

The students are calling for the resignation of Interior Minister Danilo Šaranović and Deputy Prime Minister for Security and Defense Aleksa Bečić.

Additionally, they seek urgent action from relevant institutions concerning weapons possession, reforms in police operations, the reinstatement of civic education as a required school subject, and enhancements to mental health care approaches.

The “Where Tomorrow?” group has expressed their intention to persist in their gatherings until accountability is established for the actions and failures of authorities during and after the two incidents in Cetinje that resulted in 23 fatalities.

Though they acknowledge the Government’s efforts to increase police personnel, improve weapons legislation, and host public discussions on mental health, they emphasize the need for accountability regarding the missteps in Cetinje.
