The fierce competitors from the Gulf kick off their journeys in the Champions League—one heading east and the other west in Europe, with Kotorani from the port of Piraeus and Novljani from Great France…
Montenegro has eagerly anticipated two teams in the top tier for a long time, and today marks the beginning of exciting water polo action—Primorac is set to challenge the formidable Olympiakos at 19:15, followed an hour and thirty minutes later by Jadran m:tel’s match against Marseille.
– In my view, Olympiakos and Ferencvaros are the top teams in Europe, favorites to reach the final four. There are eight or nine members of the Greek national team, the best Hungarian player Gergo Zalanki, one of the finest defenders globally Andro Bušlje, and Luka Lončar, recognized as the best center in the world. It was vividly expressed by Drasko Brguljan how challenging the task ahead of Primorac is in the outskirts of Athens.
The boys of Vladimir Gojković also face a serious opponent—his former teammate Miloš Šćepanović leads a team that includes Montenegrins Petar Tešanović and Vladan Spaić, along with Andrija Prlainović, Michel Bodega, and Alessandro Veloto…
– We are placed in a very challenging group with teams (besides Marseille, also Barceloneta and Vašaš) striving for the final four. This is an incredible opportunity for us—to develop through these matches, and we certainly won’t approach any of them merely as participants,” Gojković stated clearly.
Olympiakos was crowned European champion six years ago and reached the Champions League final the following year, returning to the final four last year.
– I can’t recall the last time Olympiakos lost at home in Athens, but this presents an opportunity for us as we enter the match without pressure. We will look to exploit counterattacks—Brguljan added.
Jadran announced yesterday that they will host their elite matches in Trebinje this season, but first, they must tackle a tough away match in Provence.
– We will face a significant challenge against a team that will confront us with aggressive pressing; however, I believe we will have the chance to surprise them and bring home points—expressed Damjan Vujicic, led by the Novljani.
