Vladan Spaić, a player for the Montenegrin national team and Marseille water polo team, has received a ten-match suspension following an incident during the Champions League match between his team and Jadran m:tel.
The French club retains the right to appeal the decision made by the European Swimming Federation.
During the match against Jadran, Spaić scored a goal that brought the score to 7:5, but moments later, in a prolonged altercation, he struck Jadran player Vuk Milojević.
Subsequently, Jadran announced that Milojević did not sustain a broken jaw, as was initially thought, but he will nonetheless be sidelined for seven to eight weeks due to injuries to three of his front teeth.
“After further evaluations, it has been confirmed that our player on the right side, Vuk Milojević, fortunately, does not have a broken jaw, but he has sustained injuries to three front teeth, which will keep him out of commission for seven to eight weeks. We wish him a fast recovery and a return to the pool!” was stated by Jadran.
In the first round of the Champions League, Jadran faced Marseille and fell short with a score of 13:11.
