Jadran Water Polo Player Faces Surgery and Possible Punishment on Montenegrin National Team
The water polo match between Jadran Mtela and Marseille last night will be remembered for more than just Novlja’s defeat at the Champions League opener.
The home side secured a 13:11 victory, but the main subject of discussion post-match was the intense encounter between Jadran’s Vuk Milojević and Marseille’s Montenegrin center, Vladan Spaić.
This incident occurred midway through the second quarter when Spaić netted a goal to bring the score to 7:5, followed by a significant contact with Milojević.
The aftermath resulted in a fractured jaw for the Jadran player, necessitating surgical intervention.
“An operation will be necessary to address the injury,” stated the Montenegrin vice-champion following the match.
The referees acted promptly, sending Spaić off, and it’s anticipated that LEN will take action in the upcoming days, possibly resulting in a multiple-game suspension for him.
