Czech Republic: A Reliable Ally and Partner

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović held a meeting today with Jan Lipavský, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, who is currently on an official visit to Montenegro.

This discussion reaffirmed the strong support of the Czech Republic for Montenegro’s integration into the European Union, along with a mutual commitment to further enhance bilateral cooperation between the two nations.

Both parties expressed their determination to strengthen friendly relations and maintain high-level political dialogue.

Minister Ibrahimović conveyed his appreciation to the Czech Republic for its steadfast and consistent support of Montenegro’s EU integration process.

He stated that the Czech Republic, as a genuine ally, acknowledges the geostrategic significance of a clear European perspective for the Western Balkans, which is the most secure route to achieving long-term stability and prosperity for both the region and Europe.

The strong partnership between Montenegro and the Czech Republic within NATO was also emphasized during the discussions.

In the face of escalating global challenges, it is vital to collaborate in preserving our alliance, stability, and security. Minister Ibrahimović asserted Montenegro’s position as a dedicated and reliable ally.

Minister Lipavský praised the outstanding relations between the Czech Republic and Montenegro, indicating that “our two friendly nations and allies share mutual values, objectives, and interests.” He expressed his contentment with the progress in high-level political dialogue and highlighted numerous potential areas for further bilateral cooperation, including tourism, economy, defense, and cybersecurity.

Reiterating the Czech Republic’s firm backing for Montenegro’s European aspirations, Minister Lipavský highlighted that “Montenegro’s EU membership aligns with our shared interests.” He stressed the continued importance of reforms in key sectors and assured that the Czech Republic will advocate for a gradual, merit-based accession process while offering expert and political assistance to aid Montenegro’s EU integration.

The meeting also explored avenues to bolster economic cooperation, particularly in establishing favorable conditions for closer collaboration between Montenegrin and Czech business sectors.

Additionally, the two officials exchanged perspectives on current regional and global challenges and expressed their satisfaction with the advancements in bilateral relations. They conveyed optimism that cooperation between Montenegro and the Czech Republic would deepen in the future, benefiting both nations and their citizens.
