Last night, detained individual NN (32) took his own life in Spuž Remand Prison.

This incident has been confirmed by “News” from the facility.

He had been in custody since December 2023, after being arrested as part of a six-member group facing charges for forming a criminal organization and for the serious offenses of producing, possessing, and distributing narcotic drugs without authorization.

The Directorate for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions reported that on February 23, at approximately 22:00, the lifeless body of detainee NN was discovered in the restroom of his holding area.

“In line with the regulations outlined in the Rules for the Detailed Method of Enforcement of Detention, which govern the placement of detainees, NN was housed in a solitary room. The Directorate for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions promptly informed the Police Directorate and the relevant prosecutor’s office about this occurrence so that they could investigate and ascertain the precise cause of the inmate’s death. The family of the deceased has also been notified,” the statement indicates.
