Germany has contributed a patrol boat valued at 250,000 euros to the Border Police of Montenegro.
According to the embassy, the donation aims to enhance border security on Lake Skadar. The patrol boat was inaugurated today at the “Plavnica” complex, with Ambassador Peter Felten in attendance.
“This vessel is equipped with powerful outboard engines, a radar and navigation system, specifically designed to meet the unique configuration and requirements of the Border Police of Montenegro, making it ideal for the challenging operational conditions on Lake Skadar. This donation exemplifies the enduring collaborative efforts between the German Federal Police and the Border Police of Montenegro, as well as support for Montenegro’s police as they prepare for European Union membership,” stated the embassy.
The patrol boat is expected to enhance the Border Police’s capability in maintaining constant surveillance of the state border on Lake Skadar, addressing issues related to smuggling and illegal border crossings under various hydro-meteorological conditions.
“During the test drive, Ambassador Felten and Montenegro’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Danilo Šaranović, had an opportunity to observe the donated vessel’s performance firsthand,” the statement remarked.
