“New Controversy for Osmajić: Burnley Player Accuses Him of Racism, Sparking Buzz in English Media”

Milutin Osmajić, a player from the Montenegrin national team, may find himself in hot water once more.

Burnley player Hannibal Mezhbri has accused him of racist remarks during today’s Championship match between Preston and Burnley (0:0), held at Deepdale.

Osmajić faced an eight-game suspension last November for biting an opponent, and now he faces more controversy.

The English press has given significant coverage to today’s incident.

“I endured appalling abuse,” stated Mezhbri, who previously played for Manchester United.

Preston confirmed they are aware of Mezhbri’s claims and noted that Osmajić has “strongly denied the allegations.”

The FA is currently investigating the matter, which caused chaotic scenes at the end of the match, including Burnley coach Scott Parker chasing after the referee, as reported by Sky Sports.

After the match, Mezhbri took to social media to express his feelings:

“I will not stay silent about what transpired today. Speaking out against racism is essential for the evolution of our sport and society. I am resilient, but no player should endure such abhorrent abuse on the pitch.”

Burnley FC issued a statement stating:

“Burnley Football Club is aware of the alleged comments made by Milutin Osmajić towards Hannibal during our match against Preston North End, which were reported to officials both during and after the match. In the second half, Hannibal Mezhbri informed referee Andrew Kitchen of the comments, and the referee formally recorded a complaint. The club appreciates the officials for their professional management of the situation.”

“The club will maintain its full support for Hannibal and will refrain from further comments until the investigation concludes.”

Preston North End also issued a statement:

“Preston North End is aware of the allegations made by Hannibal Mezhbri and Burnley to today’s match officials regarding the alleged comments made by Milutin Osmajić. Our player has strongly refuted the allegations in a meeting with the match officials after the game.”

“The club appreciates the officials for their approach in addressing the issue and is committed to assisting with the investigation until a resolution is reached. No further comments will be made at this time.”
