Hapoel Tel Aviv boasts one of the most formidable rosters in the Eurocup, featuring players like Patrick Beverley, Jonathan Motley, Bruno Caboclo, Yam Madar, and Marcus Foster under the guidance of coach Dimitris Itoudis.
Dimitris Itoudis is a distinguished figure in European basketball, having previously worked alongside Željko Obradović, and subsequently carving out an impressive career that includes two Euroleague championships with CSKA Moscow.
Prior to his team’s arrival in Podgorica, Itudis took a moment to commend Buducnost in a match preview, expressing his respect for their abilities.
“We are set to face a team that currently leads the AdmiralBet ABA League for good reason; Buducnost is a strong squad with a fantastic coaching staff, boasting talented players at every position. In this context, they can maintain control and perform well. Their guards exhibit great creativity, with substantial support coming from the players inside the paint. They truly are a well-rounded team,” Itudis explained.
Before coming to Podgorica, Itudis’ squad faced a defeat against their namesake from Jerusalem in the Israeli championship, falling 92-77.
“We’re heading to Podgorica following a disappointing performance against Hapoel Jerusalem, and we are determined to regain our form immediately. The showing we had against the Jerusalem team will not be repeated. We are motivated to bounce back—not just for ourselves, but also in light of the hard work we’ve put in this season,” stated Itudis.
Hapoel currently stands third in Group A with a record of 9-5, vying for a direct spot in the quarterfinals.
“As the group stage approaches its conclusion, we need to advance and outperform Buducnost, who are also competing for a playoff position. We must respond positively after the loss to Hapoel Jerusalem,” commented Marcus Foster of the Israeli team.
