Primorac Aims to End Losing Streak, Jadran Faces Its Namesake

October commenced with a win against Primorje, but shortly after, the water polo players from Primorje faced continuous defeats in both the regional Premier League and the Champions League.

Four consecutive losses are disheartening for the team in Kotor, and they have the opportunity to reverse this trend on Saturday in Budva, where the Montenegrin champions will host Jugo at 6 p.m.

Jug is a prominent force in European water polo, though they are not as formidable as they were in previous years. Nonetheless, Vjekoslav Pasković and his team now believe they can reclaim their winning form.

“We had ample time for preparation. I anticipate that we will deliver a solid performance, and I expect a favorable response from the team. Particularly in defense—that aspect must improve, as it let us down in our last two matches against Savona and Šibenik,” stated Pasković.

The Dubrovnik players began the Premier League with two wins but then faced defeats from Novi Belgrade at home and from Jadran in Split. Primorac currently stands at 1-3 after four rounds.

“We will work on rectifying our mistakes. If we manage that, we can hope for a better outcome,” remarked Dušan Matković, a representative from Primorje.

Jadran Mtel is looking to end their short streak of two defeats as they prepare to face Jadran from Split on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Škver.

“We are entering a derby against a team that started the season well. We aim to begin a winning streak; we understand it won’t be easy since all opponents are tough, but since we’re playing at home, I hope we can leverage that advantage,” commented Novljan coach Vladimir Gojković, whose team holds a 2-2 record in the regional competition.

The fifth round of the Premier League serves as a precursor for our teams heading into the Champions League—Primorac will compete against Sabadell on Wednesday in Kotor, while Jadran is set to visit Hungarian Vaša on the same evening.

Tomorrow, the Budva water polo players will also take to the pool, competing against Branik in Maribor for the 3rd round of the regional A1 league, kicking off at 7 p.m.
