The top teams of the EPCG Super League will compete for the Montenegrin Cup trophy on March 30. Both Budva and Buducnost progressed to the finals without losing a single set in the semifinals against Galeb and Jedinstvo, respectively.
The Podgorica team showcased excellent performance at the Mtel “Morača” hall, securing a comprehensive 3:0 victory against Jedinstvo (25:20, 25:18, 25:17).
Jedinstvo managed to provide a slightly stronger challenge than they did in Bijelo Polje. Buducnost’s Luka Lojić and Aleksa Nikolić demonstrated impressive form, with Lojić scoring 18 points and young Nikolić contributing 14. Milan Rovčanin was the sole player in Jedinstvo to enter double digits, finishing with 11 points.
Budućnost’s opponent in the final will be Budva, who fielded a young squad against an even younger debutant, Galeb, achieving a 3:0 victory (25:14, 25:20, 25:13). Budva clinched the win in Bar in under an hour, marking their return to the final for an opportunity to secure a second trophy this season after winning the Super Cup.
Coach Bošković provided nearly all players with time on the court, ensuring that everyone scored at least one point. Vuk Stanojević was the standout performer with 14 points, followed closely by Filip Milosavljević with 13. Ognjen Marstijepović led Galeb’s scoring effort with 13 points.
The men’s Cup final is set to be held on the same day as the women’s final, which is scheduled for the penultimate day of March.
In the women’s tournament, there will be a repeat of last season’s final match, with Luka Bar and Herceg Novi set to compete for the cup in this year’s most prestigious event.
Both teams demonstrated their strength as favorites with compelling victories in the semifinals, ensuring another match for the coveted trophy this year.
Luka Bar dominated Budva, winning against the newcomer in the premier division of Montenegrin volleyball with a decisive 3:0 victory (25:10, 25:15, 25:16) and setting up a rematch with the defending champions.
Vladimir Milačić’s team maintained their excellent form following a short break, with Teodora Čavić leading the way with 12 points. Vitoria Ajeska also entered double figures with 10 points, while Dijana Vuković scored eight. For Budva, Viktorija Čoković was the highest scorer with five points, followed by Elena Čolaković and Đina Lekić, who each had four points.
Herceg Novi didn’t allow Albatros to pose any significant threat during the second leg. After suffering a set loss in the city derby during the EPCG Super League, they secured their place in the Cup final with a solid 3:0 victory (25:20, 25:19, 25:13), marking their third consecutive appearance in the final.
For the defending champions, captain Ralitsa Vasileva led the scoring with 13 points, while Darija Čabonenko followed closely with 12. Geraldine Gonzalez had one of her standout performances since joining Herceg Novi, finising the match with 11 points.
Herceg Novi and Luka Bar previously met for the trophy in the first edition of the Montenegrin Super Cup at the season’s start, and both teams are strong contenders as favorites for the title in the current championship.
