Another strong contender secured a straightforward victory in Podgorica, as Budućnost’s handball team recorded their third loss at “Morača,” marking their sixth overall defeat in the EHF Champions League.
In the seventh round of Group B, Bojana Popović’s squad fell to Esbjerg with a score of 27:23. It became evident after just fifteen minutes that an upset was unlikely.
During the first half, the Danes established a commanding eight-goal lead (10:2), which later expanded to nine. The Podgorica team showed some response in the latter part of the match. Although a comeback seemed far-fetched, Budućnost appeared determined to prevent a substantial loss. Ultimately, they accomplished their goal…
Jelena Vukčević led the home team with seven goals, followed by Ivona Pavićević with five, and both Jelena Radivojević, Ivana Godeč, and Nina Bulatović each contributing three.
From Esbjerg, Heni Rejstad emerged as the top scorer with nine goals.
Buducnost will play their final match of 2024 next Sunday against Esbjerg.
