In an intense encounter, Everton held city rivals Liverpool to a 2-2 draw in their Premier League match tonight.
This fixture was initially set for December 7 but had to be rescheduled due to severe weather conditions.
Beto opened the scoring for Everton in the 11th minute, only for Liverpool’s Alexis McAllister to level the match just five minutes later, thanks to an assist from Mohamed Salah.
Salah then put Liverpool ahead in the 73rd minute, but Everton’s James Tarkowski ensured a thrilling finish, equalizing in the eighth minute of second-half stoppage time, prompting jubilant Everton fans to invade the pitch in celebration.
This match marked the final meeting between Everton and Liverpool at Goodison Park, as the venue is set to be demolished at the season’s end, with Everton relocating to Bramley Moor Dock. Historically, both teams have achieved 41 wins each at Goodison, with 38 matches resulting in draw.
In a historic twist, Liverpool fielded the first Premier League starting XI without any English players, featuring talents from around the globe: Alisson (Brazil), Robertson (Scotland), Van Dijk (Netherlands), Konate (France), Bradley (Northern Ireland), Szoboszláj (Hungary), McAllister (Argentina), Gravenberh (Netherlands), Gakpo (Netherlands), Salah (Egypt), and Diaz (Colombia).
Liverpool currently sits atop the league table with 57 points, seven points ahead of second-placed Arsenal, while Everton, now unbeaten in their last four matches, occupies 15th place with 27 points.
Next, Liverpool will face Wolverhampton at home, while Everton will travel to London to take on Crystal Palace.
