Most in Berane Reject Request to Delay Session Following Councilor’s Family Member’s Death
The councilors from the Democratic Party of Socialists have decided to boycott today’s session of the Berane Municipal Assembly. They stated that their request to postpone the session due to the passing of a family member of one of their councilors was not granted.
“We had hoped that the current majority would heed our request, not only because our councilor and party board president, Dr. Miro Nedić, was slated to discuss several proposed amendments, but primarily out of solidarity and respect for our colleague during this mourning period. In Vasojevići, such sorrow has always been treated with reverence and unity, and thus we are taken aback by the majority councilors’ decision in Berane, consisting of PES, SNP, DF, and Democrats, to reject our request. We are disappointed by their actions. The DPS councilors will not participate in the session, choosing instead to stand by their colleague and friend, in accordance with Berane tradition,” stated the DPS councilors’ club.
