A Serbian national, Marko Simić (33), was extradited to Austria from Montenegro early this morning due to allegations of drug smuggling.

The extradition took place at the Podgorica airport under heightened security measures, facilitated by officers from Interpol in Podgorica and the Special Police Unit.

On March 3, 2023, Austrian Interpol issued an international arrest warrant for Simić in connection with an ongoing criminal investigation accusing him of drug trafficking.

“MS was tracked down through targeted efforts by the FAST teams of Montenegro and Austria, leading to his arrest by the Montenegrin FAST team in Bar on July 3, 2024. Besides the aforementioned criminal activities, MS will also undergo further scrutiny by Austrian authorities regarding ongoing investigations conducted by the criminal police, particularly since documents from other countries were found in his possession,” stated the Police Directorate.
