Nikola Milić has been elected as the new president of the Water Polo and Swimming Association of Montenegro, triumphing over Veljko Uskoković during the extraordinary Electoral Assembly held today.
A former junior water polo player from Primorje and now a successful entrepreneur, Milić was considered a frontrunner in the election, backed by seven clubs including Jadran Mtela, Budva – Budva Riviera, Budućnost, Akvatik Verde, Mladosta, Baterflaj, and Nikšić.
Uskoković was nominated by the club Primorac.
According to the VPSCG, 16 out of 17 voting delegates were present at the assembly, with 11 backing Milić.
Milić will serve as the head of VPSCG for the next four years, succeeding Đuro Marić, who stepped down in early September for personal reasons.
This marks the fourth presidency for our Association, following Srđan Kovačević’s leadership from 2006 to 2016, Dejan Bajić from 2016 to 2020, and Đuro Marić from May 2021 until September.
The immediate and significant task for the new president and Board of Directors is to appoint a coach for the A national team, as the position has remained unoccupied for nearly three months since Vladimir Gojković’s contract ended after the Olympic Games in Paris.
