“Proving Our Authenticity After the Setback”
Montenegro is on the verge of the EHF Euro, and Radojica Čepić has once again demonstrated his emergence as a key player in our national handball team.
The “Lions” goalkeeper achieved remarkable success against Finland (scoring seven goals from seven attempts) and Slovakia (netting nine goals) in the opening matches of the European Championship qualifiers.
“We played a solid match – there are still numerous aspects we need to improve, but overall, it’s crucial that we navigated this first round successfully,” noted Čepić.
The return to the grand stage is imminent.
“It’s a fantastic initial step, but we must maintain this momentum as our efforts are not complete,” stated handball player Krins Lucerna.
Luka Radović also had a stellar performance on the right wing, finding the Slovakian net five times.
“I’m proud of these teammates; we gave our all and took a significant step towards reaching our aim – qualifying for the European Championship,” expressed Radović.
He also reflected on the bitter elimination six months ago against Italy in the World Cup playoff.
“The key takeaway is that after that setback, we proved we can be a formidable team.”
Montenegro maintained control in Košice.
“We were in the lead from the outset, with no fluctuations or major errors – everything was in our favor.”
Upcoming are two crucial derbies against Hungary in March.
“We have time until then – for now, we can celebrate these four points, and we’ll focus on Hungary later,” Radović concluded.
