Spajić’s Government Deliberately Implements Detrimental Policies for Ulcinj
Our ongoing concerns regarding the current composition of the Government of Montenegro, overseen by Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, are gradually becoming more evident. This administration exhibits a lack of attentiveness and concern for Ulcinj, leading to detrimental decisions, as stated by the Ulcinj Municipal Board of the URA.
They further emphasize that the most recent decision pertains to the announcement of a tender for leasing a portion of the coastal zone.
“From the outset, we recognized that the requests from all coastal municipalities would be disregarded, and the timing of this announcement raises additional concerns, especially with the tourist season approaching. Moreover, considering that this Government has previously increased the VAT for tourism by more than double, it is increasingly apparent that they are intentionally undermining tourism, which is crucial for our economy and the livelihoods of the people in Ulcinj,” the URA stated.
They also highlight that the approved Budget for this year lacks significant investments for Ulcinj, and regretfully, all Albanian parties within the parliamentary majority endorsed this budget, prioritizing their personal interests over those of their city and its residents.
“The same situation applies to the Coastal Zone issue. If these representatives lack the authority or expertise to advocate for the essential interests of their constituents within this Government, perhaps it’s time for them to step aside rather than remain while misleading the public by claiming to fight for Ulcinj’s interests,” the Ulcinj URE expressed.
“Such actions harm every citizen of Ulcinj, as they become complicit in the damaging policies originating from this inadequate government, which cannot be disguised by superficial statements. While politics has its costs, compromising dignity and poorly managing our resources, economy, and future should never be tolerated,” concluded the Ulcinj URE.
