Montenegro Secures Silver in Pordenone; Čelebić Named Tournament’s Top Blocker
The U16 men’s volleyball team from Montenegro secured the runner-up position at the “Winter Cup of Nations” held in Pordenone.
In Italy, our squad celebrated a remarkable achievement with three decisive wins – triumphing over teams from Vojvodina, the Czech Republic, and Hungary. The only setbacks came in their matches against the Japanese team.
During the championship match, Japan triumphed with a score of 3:0 (25:22, 25:18, 25:14), concluding the tournament with an undefeated record. Nevertheless, Vuk Stanojević and his teammates exhibited excellent performance, demonstrating their ability to contend equally with other national teams.
Coached by Miljan Bošković, the Montenegrin team put up a strong fight against the Japanese, making sure that victory did not come easily for their opponents, despite fatigue setting in after three consecutive days of rigorous competition and a total of 17 sets played.
Particular accolades were given to Vukota Čelebić, who earned the title of the tournament’s best middle blocker.
Montenegro departs from Pordenone with a silver medal and invaluable experience, marking a significant achievement and a source of motivation for future competitions.
Coach Miljan Bošković expressed his contentment with the players’ performances, while also noting that there is still potential for further development.
