Nurse Assaulted at KCCG Emergency Center; Independent Trade Union Urges Authorities to Take Action
Nurse Snežana Popović was assaulted on the night of Thursday into Friday at the Emergency Center of the Clinical Center of Montenegro (KCCG), prompting an immediate response call from the Independent Union of the KCCG.
The Independent Union expressed strong condemnation regarding the assault on Popović, which took place at 2:30 AM.
“This act of violence poses a serious threat to the safety of individuals who, with unwavering commitment and sacrifice, attend to the health needs of all citizens. We cannot remain silent while those who dedicate their lives to saving others become victims of aggression,” the statement emphasized.
It was highlighted that medical professionals serve as the backbone of society.
“Any attack against them is a direct affront to health, humanity, and the foundational values of our society. The independent trade union KCCG calls for an immediate reaction from the relevant authorities, including the implementation of stricter measures to ensure the safety of healthcare workers in their work environments,” the statement added.
The Independent Trade Union noted that there has been a concerning trend of violence against medical personnel.
“Protecting healthcare workers should be a top priority, as an attack on them is not merely an assault on an individual but an attack on the entire healthcare system,” the statement concluded.
The independent union asserted that it will not permit those who provide treatment and save lives to operate in fear for their safety.
