The Mayor of the Municipality of Nikšić, Marko Kovačević, has formally declared the commencement of the renovation project for the Congress Hall and the stage area within the House of Revolution, with a budget exceeding two million euros, as reported by the Municipality of Nikšić.
According to the announcement, the refurbishment of the House of Revolution is approaching completion.
“This initiative from the previous year has been extremely significant, as it formed part of our pre-application materials for the European Capital of Culture finals. We are confident that the project will be finalized by year-end, at which point a decision will be made regarding Nikšić’s potential designation as the European Capital of Culture for 2030,” Kovačević stated.
Kovačević also highlighted that this facility will serve all cultural institutions within Nikšić as well as state entities, asserting its significance not just for local governance and the city, but for Montenegro as a whole, enabling the hosting of high-caliber events.
“As you may know, a new TVNK building has been constructed in the House of Revolution, and the work on the House of Digital Revolution is close to completion. Additionally, a portion of the House of Revolution has been allocated through a public call for adaptation in the near future. We now have this multifunctional hall, which is the essence of this establishment,” Kovačević noted.
He further mentioned that he signed contracts this morning with the Capital Projects Administration to transfer the execution of certain capital projects from the state capital budget to the Municipality of Nikšić.
“Our focus moving forward will be to address the two towers at the top, which is integral to the vision for the European Capital of Culture. The Municipality plans, in collaboration with the state, to develop a project for establishing the first House of Digital Art in the Balkans, positioning Nikšić as a distinctive entity in this region of Europe. To date, we have executed over 40 projects, with an equal number underway, all aimed at benefiting our residents,” Kovačević added.
Maja Đurović Delić from the Capital Projects Administration revealed that the contractor is “LD gradnja,” with a completion deadline of 210 days.
