Podgorica has reestablished its water polo club; could Nikšić be next?
“We believe it is essential to establish a senior water polo team in the town beneath Trebjes,” stated Nikola Milić, president of the Water Polo and Swimming Federation of Montenegro.
According to VPSCG reports, Milić made these comments during discussions with Mayor Marko Kovačević and Dejan Ivanović, the Secretary of the Secretariat for Culture and Sports.
“The aim of VPSCG is to leverage the substantial resources and potential of Nikšić. Earlier initiatives already contributed to the growth of water polo and swimming here, and the introduction of a senior team engaged in local competitions and the Regional League would enhance our foundation. This endeavor requires cooperation between the association and the Municipality, which aims to create PVK Sutjeska,” Milić elaborated.
He stressed that the Federation is prepared to fully support the project with professional staff, organizational aid, and any other resources they can provide as a national body to help realize this initiative.
“We also hope that individuals who have previously contributed to the promotion and growth of water polo and swimming in Nikšić will join this initiative. We have shared this vision with municipal leaders, to whom we are grateful for their receptiveness and willingness to collaborate on achieving this objective,” Milić explained.
Lastly, he highlighted that enhancing the infrastructure and increasing the number of clubs in Montenegro is a priority for the Federation during this Olympic cycle.
“Our goal is not just to expand our base but also to foster greater awareness of water polo, our most successful and decorated sport,” concluded Milić.
