Czech Republic and Hungary Lead Young Volleyball Players to Qualification for Winter Nations Cup Finals

The Montenegrin U16 men’s national volleyball team has reached the finals of the “Winter Cup of Nations” held in Pordenone.

On the second day of the tournament, the team secured two impressive victories, defeating the Czech Republic (25:17, 25:15, 29:27) and Hungary (25:19, 25:19, 25:16).

Following a remarkable start to their campaign in Italy, where they triumphed over Vojvodina (3:0) and engaged in a thrilling match against volleyball powerhouse Japan (2:3), Miljan Bošković’s squad continued their momentum with even stronger performances.

In the match against the Czech Republic, the team demonstrated outstanding skill in both offense and defense. Captain Vuk Stanojević and his teammates dominated the first two sets, limiting their opponents to merely 17 and 15 points. The third set brought an intense challenge, as our team fell behind 16:22. However, with crucial contributions from Vukota Čelebić, Filip Milosavljević, and the rest of the squad, they rallied to tie the score at 22:22. In a nail-biting finish, they saved three set points before clinching the match with their first match point, finishing at 29:27 and securing a 3:0 victory.

During the semi-final against Hungary, Montenegro maintained its dominance with a clean sweep of 25:19, 25:19, 25:16. The match began with our team quickly establishing an 11:5 lead, which they confidently held onto (21:16) to take the first set. This pattern continued in the subsequent sets, and with a commanding 20:12 advantage, it became evident that Montenegro would take a 2:0 lead. In the decisive third set, every player had the opportunity to contribute, as the Montenegrin team surged ahead 17:9 and then 21:10, ultimately winning 25:16 for a final score of 3:0, earning their spot in the finals of this esteemed tournament.

The Montenegrin volleyball players are set to face the Japanese team in the final match, scheduled for Sunday at 14:00.
