The Montenegrin handball team celebrated a narrow victory over Slovenia in their final match before the European Championship. Head coach Suzana Lazović emphasized the importance of this win for boosting the team’s confidence heading into the prestigious tournament.
The Lionesses triumphed with a score of 29:28 in Ajdovščina against Dragan Adžić’s squad.
“We started the game strong, but experienced a dip in performance towards the end of the first half and at the beginning of the second half. Ultimately, we rallied and secured the win, which is crucial for our self-assurance as we prepare for the challenging opening match against Serbia at the EHF Euro 2024,” noted Lazović.
However, she expressed some dissatisfaction.
“The players displayed energy, but only for about 15-20 minutes of the match. We need to maintain that energy throughout the entire game, as it will be essential in our upcoming contest against Serbia. Only two players listed in the protocol did not participate, and it is clear that every player’s contribution will be vital during the group stage in Debrecen, given that we have three tough matches in a span of just five days. We still have a joint training session with Slovenia ahead, and I believe that will help us finalize our preparation as we move towards the last training for the European Championship,” the coach stated.
