With Trae Young taking on a new role and Atlanta showcasing exceptional defense, even the reigning champions Boston are not invincible at their TD Garden. The Hawks triumphed in overtime with a score of 119:115 (104:104).
Young delivered an impressive performance, contributing 28 points and 11 assists, while Dyson Daniels added 23 points. Onyeka Okongwu also made his mark with 19 points and 13 rebounds, and Bogdan Bogdanović chipped in with seven points.
On Boston’s side, Jaylen Brown recorded a double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Jayson Tatum managed 23 points, Derrick White contributed 21, and Peyton Pritchard added 20 points.
It was a game marked by significant runs from both teams, but Atlanta maintained their composure in overtime, with Okongwu sinking a pivotal free throw to clinch the victory and edge closer to playoff contention.
In another match, Kevin Durant and Devin Booker combined for 71 points, leading the Suns to a 125-121 victory over Detroit.
Durant scored 36 points while Booker contributed a bit less, but the standout performance was from Phoenix debutant Nick Richards, who recorded a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds, securing an important win for the Suns in their pursuit of a play-in spot.
Golden State also claimed a crucial victory against Washington, keeping their playoff ambitions alive.
