We are observing a power struggle and a political scramble for positions.
For the past five years, we have been witnessing a chaotic political landscape characterized by party rivalry for positions and struggles for increased representation, stated Danijel Živković, the president of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS).
The DPS revealed that Živković made these comments during a public debate that took place in Budva yesterday.
He remarked that an unstoppable wave of political change has commenced in that city.
“The citizens are tired of the nonsense, disorder, and anarchy. It is time to restore political stability. This is a fundamental characteristic of the Democratic Party of Socialists. For five years, we have been witnessing a political circus filled with party-political maneuvering for positions and a scramble for more seats. Meanwhile, development has stagnated, projects have been delayed, and investors have been driven away. Our state coffers are empty, the economy is battling liquidity issues, and our deficit continues to grow. Consequently, we find ourselves borrowing more frequently,” Živković emphasized.
He further noted that institutions have been undermined, the security sector is nearly nonexistent, and incompetent individuals are managing the state.
“The situation is critical, and we must put an end to this suffering as quickly as possible. Hence, we declared: Wherever possible, we will weaken the parliamentary majority at the state level and push them into opposition. We accomplished this in Budva, and we will do the same in all other regions until we see changes at the national level. This wave has begun, and it cannot be halted; the next destination is Nikšić,” Živković concluded.
The DPS announcement mentions that the party’s vice president, Aleksandra Vuković Kuč, addressed “the proposed Program for the upcoming Congress, which epitomizes the quality of the Democratic Party of Socialists’ offerings.”
“The program encompasses all facets of social life. According to the program, the DPS will persist in its staunch advocacy for the preservation of state dignity and will contribute to economic enhancement, investment attraction, and the betterment of citizens’ quality of life, all while implementing the principles of social justice. It also proposes solutions for ecology, culture, sports, as well as safety and the rule of law,” the statement indicates.
The DPS announced that vice president Ivan Vuković discussed “numerous attempts to destabilize Montenegro and divert it from its European trajectory, which are originating from the highest state offices.”
“He reminded those in attendance that our party was instrumental in paving the way to the EU, having opened all negotiation chapters and temporarily closed three. He underscored that even from the opposition benches, DPS MPs continue to strive toward making significant contributions to that path, supporting all proposals that align with the European agenda. However, Vuković stressed that the priority for everyone in the Democratic Party of Socialists is to uphold the rule of law in our state, and as responsible representatives, they are opposing any actions that undermine that objective, with the intention of reinstating the government to constitutional norms,” the DPS statement elaborated.
