The boxing world is buzzing in anticipation of the rematch – the inaugural bout for the unified four light heavyweight championship belts saw Artur Beterbiyev narrowly claim victory against Dmitry Bivol through a contentious split decision, marking it as one of the most outstanding matches in recent memory.
With this match, Bivol faced his first defeat after an impressive record of 23 wins, while Beterbiev continued his undefeated streak at 21 wins.
Turki al-Sheikh, the influential promoter from the Saudi State Promotion Fund, deemed the judges’ verdicts unjust and quickly orchestrated a rematch, scheduled for Saturday at 21 p.m. at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh.
The event will also showcase exhilarating opening bouts, featuring Daniel Dubois defending his heavyweight title against Joseph Parker in the main event.
The federation stripped Ukrainian Alexander Usik of his title due to a failure to defend it promptly.
As a result, in his rematch against Tyson Fury, Usyk was only able to defend three belts that he had claimed six months prior as the undisputed heavyweight champion.
