We Completely Denounce the Chauvinistic Chants
The Handball Federation of Montenegro has released a statement addressing the unpleasant incidents that occurred during the First Men’s League match between Berane and Lovcen.
Here is the full announcement:
“The Handball Association of Montenegro wishes to inform the public about the incidents that took place during the seventh round match of the SBbet First Men’s League between Berane 1949 and Lovcen, held last night in Berane.
The association firmly condemns the unacceptable and chauvinistic chants and remarks directed at the visiting team from the stands, which are entirely inappropriate not only in the realm of sports but in society at large.
We appreciate the fact that the venue was filled to capacity and that there was a fair and sporting atmosphere among the players from both teams and the officials. However, the actions of the fans tarnished the overall experience of the derby and overshadowed the high-quality handball displayed on the court.
It is important to note that the handball clubs Berane 1949 and Lovćen have a long-standing tradition of excellent mutual relations.
Incidents such as the throwing of objects onto the field, attempts by certain fans to invade the field, as well as the use of pyrotechnics in the venue, are intolerable.
These lapses in organization will lead to punitive measures for the match organizer, with decisions forthcoming from the Federation’s authorities in accordance with the provisions of the Competition Propositions and the Rulebook on disciplinary and material responsibility.
The Handball Association of Montenegro remains committed to promoting fair play, sportsmanship, and safety at matches, and we urge all clubs and fans to positively contribute to the advancement of handball and sports overall through their conduct,” the RSCG statement concludes.
